Gardening and Nutrition Education
It has been a while since my last post and I thought I would update you on my school gardens.
The students were required to complete 3 lessons in their groups at the 4 different elementary school sites. The lessons followed the NEOPB nutrition education guidelines and a master gardener from the local area was brought in to conduct the garden portion of the lesson for the 4th and 5th-grade students.

I installed 5 gardens at 5 different elementary schools. However, we are only growing plants at 4 of the schools sites. Because being a graduate student and working with special education students takes up most of my time, I did not have time to actually conduct education sessions at the garden sites. To accommodate my busy schedule, I teamed up with undergraduate students from California Baptist University. For one of their classes, they are required to complete 12 hours of community service. Fortunately, those 12 hours are with me on this gardening project.

Being the person in charge of this project is not as difficult as I thought it would be. I am able to delegate and have others carry out tasks that need to get done.
I'll keep you updated.
